Windows Server 2003 - Installing Remote Desktop Web Connection

 

Overview: After installing the Remote Desktop Web Connection on your server, you will be able to connect through any web browser on your network.

1. From the server, click on START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL.
2. Double-Click on ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
3. Click on ADD/REMOVE WINDOWS COMPONENTS.
4. Highlight APPLICATION SERVER.
5. Click DETAILS.
6. Highlight INTERNET INFORMATION SERVER (IIS).
7. Click DETAILS.
8. Highlight WORLD WIDE WEB SERVICE.
9. Click DETAILS.
10. Select REMOTE DESKTOP WEB CONNECTION and click OK.
11. Click OK. Click OK. Click NEXT. (It may then ask for CD)
12.From a client web browser, put the following in the address bar: http://<server name>/tsweb and hit <enter>
13.The Remote Desktop Web Connection ActiveX control will be installed the first time you access terminal services.
14. Enter the Server Name and desired resolution and click CONNECT.
15. You will be prompted for credentials to log in.

* Due to the use of ActiveX, this method can only be used with Internet Explorer, not Firefox or Netscape.
