Windows Server 2003 - Installing Microsoft Windows Update Services

 

1. Start the Microsoft Windows Update Services executable. (WSUSSetup.exe)
2. Click NEXT.
3. Select ACCEPT and click NEXT.
4. Leave the default of STORE UPDATES LOCALLY if your server has an NTFS drive with at least 6GB free. Click NEXT.
5. Leave the default of INSTALL SQL SERVER DESKTOP ENGINE (WINDOWS) ON THIS COMPUTER unless you have another database for this purpose. Click NEXT.
6. Leave the default of USE THE EXISTING IIS DEFAULT WEB SITE and click NEXT. Note the addresses to manage WUS and for clients to access WUS for future reference.
7. If this is the only WUS server you will be using, click NEXT.
8. Review the configuration and click NEXT. (WUS will now install)
9. Click FINISH and if you wish to begin, leave the option to LAUNCH THE WEB ADMINISTRATION TOOL selected.
