Windows Server 2003 - Create a Container to List Printers in Active Directory

 

1. Click START | RUN and type ADSIEDIT.MSC. Click OK.
2. Expand DOMAIN and right-click DC=Domain, DC=com.
3. Scroll to NEW | OBJECT.
4. In the SELECT A CLASS: dialog, select CONTAINER and click NEXT.
5. In the VALUE box, type "Printers" and click NEXT.
6. Click FINISH. A CN=PRINTERS container appears in the right pane of ADSI Edit.
7. Right-click CN=PRINTERS and scroll to PROPERTIES.
8. Click the ATTRIBUTE EDITOR tab.
9. Under ATTRIBUTES, scroll down and double-click showInAdvancedViewOnly.
10. Set to FALSE and click OK.
11. Quit ADSI Edit.
12. Go to ACTIVE DIRECTORY USERS AND COMPUTERS. The Printers container that you created appears in the list of directory objects.
13. From the top toolbar, click on VIEW and select ADVANCED FEATURES.
14. From the top toolbar, click on VIEW and select USERS,GROUPS AND COMPUTERS AS CONTAINERS.
15. Move the printers you'd like into the PRINTERS container.
